I had the day off yesterday thanks to a kid pretending to be sick in the am, so I decided to go to the New Britain Museum of American Art. It was further from me in New Haven than I expected, and it cost $10 for students (luckily free for kids under 12). I’ve been at Albertus for years and 1. Have never had to travel for an online class 2. Have ever had to pay to complete assignments.. But on the brighter side the museum was quaint but sophisticated and I really enjoyed the showcased pieces. They also had more than one area for kids to be hands on which I greatly appreciated. Here are some of the pieces that caught my eye as I prepare to write this paper.

  1. Looking forward to your paper... the museums are your textbook... I bet you have paid upwards of $200 or more for a single book for a class... :)

  2. We had discussed the admission fees in Tracey's post. I think for me the issue isn't paying $10 to get into a museum (believe me, it isn't going to break the bank; I can forego stopping for coffee for a week and just use my K Cup :D), the problem was with paying admission for something as limited as the Bruce Museum. It's a very big building with a very quaint amount of exhibit on display, with most of it not able to be photographed. I mean let's face it, paying twice as much for something like a trip to The Met for an assignment, plus train, plus subway is worth it for the experience and what you are able to view. Personally, in the end it comes down to an issue of quantity v quality.

PS. Speaking as your unofficial accountant and tax advisor....save your receipts and tax deduct it all as educational in January.

  3. I like that middle painting of the running dog. Neil Jenney has a pretty unique style if you've seen any of his other paintings with individuals in various scenes.
